1500 new dial-in numbers have been added for use nationwide . While the company expects these new access numbers to be used primarily by its existing customers when traveling, they further expect these new numbers to "seed" future growth areas.
LocalNet has recently completed bandwidth and equipment upgrades in their Rochester, NY, Albany, NY, Boston, MA, and Philadelphia, PA and Wilkes-Barre, PA co-location PoP's. According to Marc P. LocalNet announces the expansion of its service area with the addition of Dunkirk marketplace dial-in numbers. LocalNet offers unlimited 56k dialup internet access services for $ 9.95 per month. The company has 15,000 subscribers.
LocalNet announces the installation of a T-3 internet bandwidth connection. "This circuit (the T-3) will greatly improve our throughput. Customers should immediately notice the difference," said company President Marc P. Silvestri. GlobalCenter is providing the T-3 circuit which is capable of transfering 45 MB of data per second. Four additional T-1 circuits are also used by the company to provide internet connectivity for its customers.
38 New Dial-In Numbers Available !
LocalNet has expanded its coverage area with internet access now available in the greater Philadelphia, Reading, and Allentown, Pennsylvania markets. "We have 38 separate dial-in numbers available in these areas to insure the widest possible calling area for our new subscribers" said Marc P. Silvestri, president.
Service in Philadelphia had been planned as part of a larger expansion strategy previously announced by the company. LocalNet Corp., a Williamsville, NY based Internet access provider has entered the Pennsylvania marketplace by establishing a Harrisburg, PA location.

LocalNet Corp., a Williamsville Internet service company, last week took over customers from C.I.D. Internet Services Inc. of Blasdell after purchasing the competitor.
The deal gives LocalNet 350 additional customers, bringing its total to about 4,400, president Marc Silvestri said. Terms of the sale weren't disclosed.
C.I.D. operated as part of C.I.D. Refuse Service Inc.
"They were facing the same decision a lot of access providers are -- whether to make that next investment," Silvestri said.
Rising standards in the on-line world mean small service providers are facing big investments for digital lines and faster modems, driving consolidation, he said.
LocalNet, begun in 1994, generated sales of more than $1 million last year.
In addition to providing dial-up access, it hosts corporate and organizational web sites, including Erie County's.
