LocalNet added it's 100,000th subscriber in June. "Quality service, customer satisfaction and, of course, our $9.95 per month pricing" were cited by company president Marc Silvestri as the primary reasons for LocalNet's continued growth.
LocalNet has unveiled 'LocalNet Express', an accelerated dial-up service that allows its customers to surf the web at up to five (5) times the rate of a traditional dial-up connection. LocalNet Express uses a combination of data caching and compression technologies to speed up the user's experience. The service is available for an additional $3.00 per month.
For the second time in three years LocalNet has been named to Inc. Magazine's list of "500 Fastest Growing Companies". The Fall Special Edition of the much-respected national business magazine highlights companies of note across all business sectors for their achievements. LocalNet is one of only two Internet service providers in this year's prestigious compilation. LocalNet posted a 551% growth rate over the last 5 years to earn its place on the list. The company first made the list in 2000/2001.
LocalNet has announced that it is now offering long distance telephone service in addition to it's traditional $9.95/mo. dialup Internet service. "We held off on this (long distance service) until we were able to offer the same type of value as we do in internet service" said Marc P. Silvestri, company president. "We know customers rely on us to provide a valuable internet product and we needed to make sure that we had a quality service, at a great price point before bringing this service to the public", he added.
LocalNet has added three more sites to it's proprietary network. The Minneapolis, MN colocation point will also serve Grand Forks, ND and Eau Claire, WI. Roanoke, VA can service the Tri Cities area and parts of Maryland. These new sites represent the additional opportunities available to LocalNet a result of their negotiating agreements with additional telecommunication vendors. "we've come to agreement with a few new providers and you'll see more growth on our network as a result" said company General Manager, David Kaplan.
Internet industry analyst ISP-Planet, http://www.isp-planet.com, has ranked LocalNet as the 20th largest internet service provider in the nation according to it's 2nd quarter, 2003 list (see the list). "We're pleased, of course, to be part of this elite group of providers" said company President Marc P. Silvestri. "Our subscribers and employees know how much effort we put into providing a quality service and it's gratifying to see that we've now been recognized at the national level".
